Gingivitis Treatment

Gingivitis Treatment is Normally just good oral hygiene and mouth care.

Gingivitis or bleeding gums is one of the most common dental diseases in adults. The symptoms include a softening of the gun tissue, sore and painful gums and bleeding.

Even though children can also suffer with this very common mouth problem, it doesn’t seem to effect kids near as much. This could be to our typically full day of work, taking care of the house and family leaving precious little time for basic personal care.

We always make certain the kids brush regularly even though we don’t.

Gum disease symptoms will NOT go away on it’s own. Gums are simply the tissue that grows around your teeth and keep them in place. Untreated, gingivitis will cause your gums to retract or "move away" from your teeth. In time, this retraction will cause your teeth to loosen, bacteria will have access to more of your tooth surface and your smile will deteriorate. It’s also painful, a main symptom of gingivitis.

Bacteria is the typical reason why we develop gums that bleed or are swollen and sensitive. Food particles and anything we put in our mouths can leave a residue that can be an ideal environment for bacteria growth.

The good news is that with regular dental care, which is the most effective treatments for gingivitis, most gum disease problems will clear up on their own. Even more good news is that many gum related problems such as sensitivity, bleeding, soreness and redness will heal quickly once a regular routine of brushing and flossing with a good quality products is started and maintained. This routine will also keep your teeth whiter and cleaner longer.

To fix common gum disease like bleeding, sores etc. a daily brushing with a good, high quality soft bristle brush will usually correct the problem. Brushing during the first few days however, will be somewhat painful as you will need to massage your swollen or bleeding gum tissue with the brush to encourage healthly growth.

Mouth sores are a common affliction due to many causes. Boils, kind of like a pimple or growth on the gum could be a symptom of an abscess and you should see a dentist immediately. I know, I know, dentist are a pain in the mouth but the fact is that waiting only let’s the problem get worse and more expensive.

Leaving a boil or growth on your gums can not only be painful but may be extremely serious. If you smoke, this may be a precursor or indication of mouth cancer. So no matter what the actual reason, if you find a boil or growth on your gums, schedule a an appointment with your dentist.
